With the beach right down the road to natural landscaping all around, Myrtle Beach has so many great locations to offer for your best professional portrait experience. When talking with your photographer about a photo session, you may be asked to provide a list of favorite locations or places that you would like to shoot. This can help the photographer recommend and plan a great photo session for you You also have the option to let your photographer decide and that is great too. To help, here are some of the perfect locations for your photography session in Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand area.

Fun bridal photos at wedding ceremony in Atalaya Castle in Huntington Beach State ParkHuntington State Park

Located 15 miles from downtown Myrtle Beach, Huntington State Park offers something for everyone. If you’re looking to do something a little different from your typical beach portraits, then look no further! This is the perfect location for some fun and unique shots. Th beautiful beach offers great pier shots and has some of the best dunes on the shore. It also offers walkways perfect for sunset photography. However, the real cream of the crop is Atalaya Castle! This does require payment at $2 a person to enter, and you must get there at least an hour before closing time at 5pm. Stop by the castle on your way to the shores to capture your entire journey deeper into the park. The natural park allows for no hotels or housing in the background of your shots and is pet friendly year-round.

To enter the park, there is an admission fee of $8 per person.

Caledonia Golf and Fish Club

Caledonia Golf and Fish Club is a popular wedding and photography destination, and for all the right reasons. This is a beautiful former site of a southern rice plantation located along the Waccamaw River. Caledonia’s beauty is well-preserved with a stunning alley of majestic live oaks, annual and semi-annual blooming flowers, and an Old-South antebellum-style clubhouse. The best feature here is the entrance roadway. It’s surrounded by centuries old live oak trees with their moss covered branches overhanging the roadway. If you’re looking for a nature-based shoot, Caledonia Golf and Fish Club is one of the perfect locations for your photography session to fulfill that desire.

It is important to note that photo sessions must be approved in advance and cannot conflict with operations of the golf course. There are no pets allowed and children are restricted during golfing hours.

Engagement Photography Brookgreen GardensBrookgreen Gardens

This perfect outdoor setting is right across the street from Huntington State Park and Atalaya Castle. Brookgreen Gardens offers many opportunities for a photo shoot and has so many different looks at any time of year. To enter, there is an admission fee of $20 for adults and $10 for children. It is also important to know that photo sessions need approval prior to your session from the Gardens.

Tucked into the Lowcountry and just south of Pawley’s Island, Georgetown is one of coastal South Carolina’s oldest cities. Known as “Little Charleston”, this charming city has many historical sites and modern attractions to offer visitors and photograph. Discover a perfect balance of vintage and modern with breezy beachfront charm, and historical beauty. Here, you’ll find some amazing places to get the perfect shot for any occasion. From the rustic look of the historical buildings like the Kaminski House to natural waterfront settings on the Harborwalk. To make it better, most places are free to walk and offers plenty of parking around the town.

Riverwalk in Conway

Streamlined and modern, but with a touch of the past. If you’re looking for a southern backdrop for your shoot, the Riverwalk in Conway is a great choice. Built in 1937, the Waccamaw River Memorial Bridge showcases cathedral-like arches that lend a one-of-a-kind backdrop to your photos near historic buildings, train tracks and marinas. This location is perfect for romantic sessions and family sessions. It also offers tons of rustic buildings and natural scenery for the perfect mixture of true southern charm.
